Beauty is bones and biscuits and bonanzas, so light it up with these gems! If you’re looking to create a real beauty mindset, all the goods be right up in here yo!
When I find something good in life, I want to spread the love. There’s plenty of mindless negativity out there; switch on any new channel right this second if you’re inclined to feed yourself to the sharks. They are hungry, I warn you.
This is a list of people and resources I’m personally happy to promote off my own back; there’s nothing in it for me, I’m not raking in the royalties here. It’s just me giving a high-five to the fine peeps of this world that put a spring in my step and a twinkle in my eye.
People and Words to Get in Your Life
Abel & Cole
Only for the UK, these lovelies do organic fruit and veg deliveries all over the country. I know this makes us sound so snobby, but it really all goes back to being food dweebs (fweebs?) and caring about conscientious consumerism. Their organic, sustainably-sourced and high-welfare selection is extensive, excellent and exquisite. A truly kind spirited company with the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. They are big on promoting local and nationally grown produce, as well as eco packaging and connecting consumers to the small-time farmers they support. A beautiful mindset is all about consciousness for those things which bring us to our highest good.
I have never met this woman, but she has literally saved my life. After years of being sick, she turned my life around with amazing testing, bespoke health plans, supplements, phone calls, and many frantic emails (from me to her – Brie is never frantic). She is a Functional Medical Practitioner who specializes in women’s health, but is a goddess of healing. She uses holistic methods, working from the ground up, to create a brand shiny new you, for real – not just a pharmaceutical dependent zombie. I will ever be in her debt.
Buy Whole Foods Online
This one is only for the UK kids, which is a real shame, because these people are awesome. My husband and I totally nerd out when it comes to food. We ferment veg, make kombucha, grind our own almond flour and make hummus from scratch. I know. Don’t. It’s an obsession. We like to eat, but also make sure that the people who produce our food follow sustainable practices and take care of our precious world and it’s people all at the same time. These peeps are especially good for buying dried goods in bulk, and have lots of organic options. It’s super economical, ecological, and their prices can’t really be beat. From cocoa powder to lentils to dried figs, these folks have the magic.
First off, this girl is nuts. She cray-zee. But she’s the happiest crazy I’ve ever seen, and I want more. Two scoops and sprinkles, please. She puts out glam videos that make pilates look like a cupcake summer, but don’t be fooled kids. She kicks ass. Literally and metaphorically. But with so much genuine sparkle, I can’t help myself. I’m hooked. If everyone were like Cassie, nothing bad would happen in the world. Build a beautiful bum and mindset all the day long with this chirpy chicka.
Earth Eats podcast
A mom and pop radio stop. Since I no longer live in the US, this little doozy reminds me of the good old, home-cooked, all American days: food, farming, organic, and everyday pioneers. I’d love to meet Chef Danielle Orr. What a peach he is. Listen if you appreciate small town America and people who love their chickens and make their own sourdough bread from wild yeast.
Jordan Reasoner and Steve Wright
My health journey has been long, boring, expensive, and frustrating. It wasn’t until I found these guys and their site that I really started to understand the bigger picture, take control of my spiraling health issues, and make the changes that would ultimately allow me to get my life back. Their site is a super down-to-earth guide for people looking for real solutions to their health problems (particularly gut based). If you’re ready to get to the embrace your MegaBeauts health and dig deep, this is a great place to start.
I like to experiment with making my own lotions and potions from time to time, and when I do, this is my first port of call. Their tag line is “natural healthy living” and that is basically all the recipe you need, no? They have piles of shea butter, essential oils, gums, balms, and all constituent ingredients for happiness. They have loads of organic and bulk options too, so it is quite affordable. Bliss out, babies.
What a cool dude. He headed up Underground Wellness Radio for years (great resource to get into the nitty gritty of wellness), and has just launched out on a new venture called The Sessions, which is more about self improvement- crucial listening for a beautiful mindset for sure. Sounds lame, but he interviews all and sundry about all and sundry, dispensing life hacks, great advice, and inspiring stories from people all over the map. Listen up and learn your ass something new.
Stuff Mom Never Told You
Oh, Cristen and Caroline, can we please be friends? These two gals are the ultimate lady friends you’ve always wanted- talking and laughing about sex, suspicious discharge, feminism, lube, relationships, vaginas, and everything in between. These gals will tell it like it is, and I love love love them for it.
The Book of Life
My husband discovered this site when he was rowing his little boat down the streams of personal exploration. It is a wealth of intelligent, relevant, and totally riveting advice that is baked to perfection, with just the right dose of sage wisdom and gentle openness. It has provoked my routine thought processes into becoming wider, freer, more honest versions of themselves. Open your heart and breathe it in.
This American Life
Radio genius. This used to play on Sunday evenings, and I’d sew in my parent’s freezing, scary basement while listening to the world go by through the distinct cadence of Ira Glass. Get yourself a hot mug of tea, at least three cookies, and possibly a box of tissues.
Talk about keeping it real, man. These folks do not shy away from anything. I’ve learned how to make poo wine, why you shouldn’t allow black market mamas to inject your butt with mystery fillers, and all about the fascinating world of Reborn Babies. This is MegaBeauts at it’s most raw. Not necessarily for the faint of heart, its content is anything from eye popping, to mind blowing, to just very extremely confusing. Prepare to meet the world, my dears.
Also, I wouldn’t say no to a job if one is going.
As the name suggests, this gal is a vision of earth-loving, self-caring, healing, eating, making and doing. It’s basically do-it-yourself health, beauty, and holistic living, all pieced neatly together with the wrinkles ironed out. Easy. Doable. Informed. This lady has a hatful of kids, so she makes tutorials simple and affordable for real people (that’s us!), while also being super conscientious about green living. My cap’s off to this mama: I don’t know how she does it all, but it’s a good start for the rest of us.
Yoga With Adriene
This gal. She is peace and love incarnate. Aside from being funny, charming, and fucking cool as a cucumber, her unique style immediately makes you feel like old friends and kindred spirits. She is the warm, comfy quilt of yogaland, whose mantra is “Find what feels good”- which, when your hips are the rusted old bike frame that mine are, is exactly what you need to hear. More Adriene for everyone.
Tell me. Do you have some magic to share? Has someone turned your life upside-down (in the best possible way)? Is there a podcast that could save the planet? Do you know any mental magicians? I want to know.
